The University Building Official has a tremendous opportunity to impact positive change and foster community-wide dialogue around code compliance, safety, accessibility, and more. Campus wide accessibility is a major goal, requiring more than meeting codes and standards but exceeding them to become inclusive for everyone to enjoy this beautiful campus. Our collaboration with a variety of stakeholders including the BOV, Faculty/Staff, students, construction contractors, A&E’s, and state partners will create immeasurable opportunities here at Mason.
The University Building Official is responsible for enforcing the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code for construction work on all Mason owned facilities across the Commonwealth of Virginia, including Manassas, Fairfax, and the greater Washington, D.C., metro area.
